Megan here. I had a 9 miler scheduled for this last Saturday. I only pulled out 6, as it was FREEZING here in Wisconsin this weekend. I had zero energy, the cold hurt my lungs and my legs felt like they were a bagillion pounds. I need motivation. How's everyone else's training coming?
I pulled out my 9 miler with 2 feet of snow on the ground, 20 degree temps, AND at 5280 elevation. Lock it up Moogs. OR try giving yourself goals during your long runs...run to a certain distance or time and take a minute walk. Try walking 1 minute out of every 10 or alternating running and walking more frequently. Hal says that the important point is that you cover the prescribed distance; how fast you cover it doesn't matter. Enjoy the "kickback" week and get back into the right mindset the following week and get pumped up for our 11 miler on the 25th!
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling great. I went running with a friend yesterday who has always been in way better shape than me. Well he's not in better shape anymore. We suffered through 65 degree winter weather.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I'm running an hour 20 minutes and watching Moneyball.
Ah I've been forgetting to check the "comments" on all the posts! Curtis, I feel so bad for you and your 65 degree winter... I think that's almost warm enough to leave the gloves at home?? Either way, we're getting the miles in! Sulla, I'm going to try the run 9 minutes, walk 1 minute strategy and see how that goes. I need to train my body to walk anyway since I'll be doing a lot of it on June 3rd!
